Professor Ibeawuchi Frank Amagwu

COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVE – NIGERIA

Amagwu, Ibeawuchi Francis (fondly called Frank) was born in Kafanchan (Kaduna State) and haild from Aboh Mbaise in Imo Sate. He graduated from the University of Calabar with a B.Sc. (Hons) Degree, Second Class Upper Division in Banking and Finance. He was the best graduating student in the Department of Banking and Finance in 1990 and a recipient of IBWA Bank Award for Academic Excellence in 1990. He immediately proceeded to the University of Lagos, Akoka to earn a Master’s of Science (MLSc.) degree in Finance and later went to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he earned a second M.Sc. degree in Developmental Studies with distinction. Thereafter, he bagged a Ph.D. in Development Finance (also with distinction) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka.

An Associate Research Fellow at the African Institute of Applied Economics (AIAE) now African Heritage Institution, Enugu, Ibeawuchi (Frank) Amagwu was the Charman of Enugu Forum (2006 to 2010). He is a Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Treasury and Financial Accountants- FTFA as well as a member, Nigerian Institute of Management- MNIM and also belongs to the World Association of Academic Doctors-WAAD (Charity Organization). He is an honorary member of Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (HCIB).

Frank started his career after graduation with the Federal Airport of Nigeria (FAAN) as an Internal Auditor and later entered into commercial banking practice with Commerce Bank Plc. He also worked with FSB International Bank Plc, briefly with Fidelity bank PLC. Before joining First City Monument Bank Plc in 2006 where he worked as Regional Director East on Asst. General Manager grade. He left commercial banking practice after nineteen years to join the Central Bank of Nigeria as Assistant Director in April 2011.

He served as the Head, Development Finance, Central Bank of Nigeria, Enugu from 2011- 2016, Associate Head, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Financing Division (MSMEFD) and later as Head. MSMEDF before his appointment as Branch Controller of Central Bank, Abuja Branch. An inspirational leader, motivational speaker, banker and development finance officer, he is an author of philosophical! books like, Life Is Pain and The Fool in Me: has also published several articles on microfinance, development finance and contemporary issues on both local and international journals.

Married to Dr. Chinedum Christabel and blessed with two children.

Ibeawuchi (Frank) Amagwu is a faculty of Apollos University, Montana, USA and an Associate Professor in Micro and Development Finance
